Big Week On High Tech Sister
This week is going to be a big week on High Tech Sister. First off, I’m working on a series of in-depth tutorials for the OpenOffice suite; the first of which will be published this week. It’s a polished application suite that can hold it own against Microsoft’s Office Suite. I’m going to be tackling the components of the suite one by one. The first set of tutorials will focus on Writer, OpenOffice’s word processor.
I started using OpenOffice a few years ago when I was still using Windows, and it sure has come a long way in those short few years. I needed an office suite to do basic word processing and to make presentations that I could afford and install as many times as I needed. I found OpenOffice and it’s been a lifesaver every since. But I must admit that being mainly a programmer, I never really learned how to use any office productivity suite well. Sure I could hack around and get what I needed done, but I wanted to become more productive and spend less time fumbling around the software and more time writing the actual content. So I decided to learn the application suite and make tutorials along the way as a means of solidifying the concepts for myself. I’ve decided to post the tutorials as I complete them so that they may provide some value to others learning to use the OpenOffice Suite as well.
Next up, I’ll be revisiting the Ubuntu + GIMP + Wacom Saga and see if I can get a functioning work environment set up. Finally we’ll round out the week talking some blog monetization and promotion tips as well as this week’s discussion question: How many computers do you need? So Stay Tuned!!
